I am constantly discovering music, art, spiritual practices, holistic and plant based tools and remedies, media, & more that inspire me; and that I wish to share with my network. For the past 8 years I have done this sharing primarily on Instagram. Since I’m taking a break from screaming into the void of social media, I have decided to resurrect this post from over a year ago, and transform it into a seasonal column called Earthly Delights.
Media
If we have spent time together in the past 8 months, chances are you’ve heard me evangelize about The Emerald, a podcast with Joshua Micheal Schrei.
Featuring a unique format that combines storytelling, music, spoken word poetry and interviews with fascinating guests, The Emerald feels more akin to an energetic attunement or performance art, than your usual podcast listen.
As likely to source from the Wu Tang Clan as the ancient Indian Vedas, and featuring guests such as anthropologist and award-winning author Wade Davis, philosopher Bayo Akomolafe, award-winning author Ann Wroe, noted indigenous author Tyson Yunkaporta and more, The Emerald offers a green glint of wonder in a world that needs to be reacquainted with its own beating heart. ~https://www.themythicbody.com/podcast/
Upon finishing my first two episodes (For the Intuitives Parts 1 & 2); I immediately signed up to be a Patreon supporter, because I was so inspired and moved by what I had just experienced.
Since then I have listened to 14 more podcast episodes, and have attended live, or watched the replay of every study group. The study groups happen bi-monthly for Patreon supporters, and are full of wisdom, and nourishment for the mind, body and spirit.
I feel once again the eagerness and excitement to learn, reminiscent of the early days of my spiritual path. The beginner’s mind, “shoshin”, as the Zen Buddhists call it. I’ve always considered myself a student first and foremost, but it’s been a long time since I encountered any spiritual teaching that has brought about such a palpable sense of wonder and excitement.
If you have listened to The Emerald on my recommendation, I would love to hear your thoughts/feelings in the comments. If you do listen, please come back when you finish and share!
Nature
Speaking of green things…
I was moved to tears by the beauty of the old growth forest in the Olympic National Park last month. There’s just something so overwhelmingly beautiful about the way the the lichen and moss covered conifer trees catch the light at golden hour that makes you want to linger amongst these tree beings forever and ever. As we drove away from the Sol-Duc campground, it felt like saying goodbye to beloved friends, and I could not stop the tears from streaming down my face.
This trip deserves, and will have its own post at some point in the near future, but in the meantime please enjoy this photo spread of the most epic trees I have ever seen.
Tools
I have been doing a lot of smoke cleansing of our home, which is not a common practice for me. I’ve always been more drawn to using sound and reiki to energetically clear a space. Lately, though, I’ve felt called to waft palo santo and/or sage around our space almost every morning before my meditation practice. Incense (especially the kind that comes in thin sticks) usually gives me a nauseous headache, but recently I discovered a couple of brands that do not have this effect — Inacusa Palo Santo, and Temple Copal. Thank you to sweet angel
for turning me on to Temple Copal at a moon circle back in June. For transparency, I have no financial connection or affiliate situation with either of these brands, I just really like the products and want to share!Music
And here is playlist I made inspired by a recent trip to Brooklyn and quality time spent dressing up, dancing, making art and dream-weaving with some of my all time favorite human beings.
Lastly a quick reminder -
Alchemia Sound & Friends is coming up Sunday August 25th at West Side Yoga 108.
Also that playlist tho
I like this post format! Think I wanna do a similar thing
