Welcome to the new Light Spirit Essentials newsletter! I’ll be using Substack from now on to communicate about all the offerings under the Light Spirit Essentials umbrella - Alchemia Sound Healing, Reiki, Aromatherapy/Cacao, and Reyna Collective. I have been wanting to make this shift for a while because Substack is a really wonderful platform for creators. There’s a bunch of Reyna Collective content (rituals, journal prompts, meditations, sound baths) already available here, which I hope you will enjoy exploring. And if you’d like to join Reyna Collective’s WhatsApp thread for meditation support -
My sound offering is now called Alchemia Sound Healing, and my first event of the year is going to be Friday February 3rd at HAWK & hummingbrid Holistic Healing in Providence, RI. Limited to 8 people, pre-registration is required.
More than a newsletter, I want the Light Spirit Substack to be a place for kindred spirits to gather and share inspiration and insight. To learn together, share ideas, philosophies, theories, skills and expertise. To cultivate power WITH one another.
My intention is to prioritize sharing longer form, higher quality content here vs. on social media, and to post more frequently.
Something that’s been on my heart and mind lately is the concept of wealth. First I want to say that I do firmly believe that financial health is a part of holistic health. There are so many ways that mental and emotional turmoil can manifest in the way we deal with money, and I think it’s important to understand and unpack all that as adults. Not to mention the culture of “more, more more!” we are brought up and indoctrinated into.
Throw a penny on Instagram in any direction and it’ll land on some influencer telling you that the solution to dominator patriarchal systems is for more women to have more access to more wealth. Because we will do more good with our money than men. It’s not NOT true, but this thinking perpetuates the idea that we don’t have enough. That we always need more - more followers, more influence, and yes, more moneeeeeeey pleeeeeease!
I definitely used to believe this myself. Then Covid happened, and I started to see things much differently.
It is not radical or revolutionary for women to simply “replace” men in positions of power, and gain more and more monetary wealth. One could argue that it’s a (baby) step in the right direction, but it is not a solution, and I believe we need to start acting much bigger and bolder, with immediacy.
“We have run out of excuses, and we are running out of time. If solutions within the system are so impossible to find. We should change the system.” ~ Greta Thunberg
I look around my kitchen lately, and I see jars of potions and food made by friends who grew or wildcrafted the ingredients. A refrigerator full of fresh veggies grown nearby by people I actually know. Eggs on the counter from actual free range chickens that wander the organic farm where my partner works.
Now THIS is what I call wealth.
Imagine if we all stopped working and began tending every patch of land around us, turning our neighborhoods into food forests? What if we gathered our skills and expertise into mutual care networks, pooled our tools and resources to ensure equitable access to homes, education, healthcare?
I would love to hear from you in the comments. Do you think that capitalism can be reformed to a more ethical and environmentally conscious form, or should we burn it all to the ground and start over?
If you’re interested in reflecting more, check out the post “Anti-Capitalist Visioning Ritual”.
Also please give my updated website a peep, and me know what you think.
Always at your service,
Nicole
Moving away from the burn it down model (lord knows I felt that and then learned that's a capitalist mindset!!) but I'm down for building the new while the old collapses. That's what we've been doing! <3
